New Orleans Saints 2018 NFL Draft tracker and highlights. Will the Saints finally get a long-term successor for Drew Brees?

Will this year finally be the year the New Orleans Saints look toward the future at the quarterback position and draft Drew Brees’ long-term successor?

Brees re-signed this offseason on a two-year contract, but the Saints would be wise to start thinking about life after one of the best to ever play the game.

Whether or not they do so in the first round? We’ll find out soon enough.

The Saints had one of the best draft classes any of us could have come up with this past year, picking Marshon Lattimore and Ryan Ramczyk in the first round, and following those picks up with Marcus Williams, Alvin Kamara, and Alex Anzalone.

They drafted the rookie of the year on both offense and defense.

It was an historic draft class that set the Saints up for great success in the postseason, but it was an unfortunate miscue by Williams, the team’s second round pick, that cost the Saints a shot at the Philadelphia Eagles.

Williams played great all year, but made one mistake on the last play of their playoff game against the Vikings, failing to get Stefon Diggs out of bounds, and the rest is history.

Sorry to bring it up, Saints fans.

But hope is not lost for Williams or this Saints team. They looked like legit contenders with a vastly improved defense, and they have a chance in this draft to fortify their roster even further. Let’s take a look at their offseason in 2018 as well as their brand new draft class…
