Los Angeles Chargers NFL mock draft: Round 4, 118th overall

Pick Analysis. EDGE. Pittsburgh. Patrick Jones II. player. Scouting Report. 4. 866

With Melvin Ingram hitting free agency this offseason, edge rusher could end up becoming a major position of need for the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2021 NFL Draft. They attack that potential need with the selection of Patrick Jones II in the fourth round of this NFL mock draft.

Jones is an explosive edge defender who is quick off of the ball and powerful at the point of attack. He shows impressive upside as a speed rusher around the edge and also does a fantastic job of holding his own and maintaining his responsibilities against the run.

In Jones, the Los Angeles Chargers find themselves a high upside edge defender who can make an impact as both a pass rusher and run defender. Snagging him in the fourth round of this NFL mock draft feels like a major steal.

Los Angeles Chargers NFL mock draft: Round 5, 160th overall

EDGE. Northern Iowa. Elerson Smith. 5. player. Pick Analysis. 13. Scouting Report

If he chooses to leave via free agency, replacing Ingram will not be easy for the Los Angeles Chargers this offseason. However, attacking this potential need with a pair of talented edge rushers in the middle of the 2021 NFL Draft feels like a strong plan of attack for this team.

For the second pick in a row, the Los Angeles Chargers take a shot on some upside at the edge rusher position in this 2021 NFL mock draft. Elerson Smith is a long and athletic edge defender who shows an explosive first step and bends around the corner extremely well.

While he lacks ideal bulk and power up front, Smith undoubtedly has exciting upside as an outside speed rusher at the next level. Smith will likely only be able to make an impact on obvious passing downs early in his career, but his raw ability up front makes him worthy of this fifth-round investment.
