Round 4, 107th Overall

Pick Analysis. S. player. 804. Scouting Report. Florida State. Hamsah Nasirildeen. 4

Jeremy Chinn has come in and immediately shined as a linebacker/safety hybrid for the Carolina Panthers this season. Chinn is among the favorites for Defensive Rookie of the Year this season and is undoubtedly an important part of the long-term success of this team. Taking another linebacker/safety hybrid player here may seem a bit odd, but Hamsah Nasirildeen is simply too talented to ignore in this range.

Nasirildeen is a long and athletic safety who can make an impact all over the field. He is strong in run support and shows plenty of playmaking ability in coverage. Nasirildeen is an extremely mobile and explosive player who has had success as a deep safety, in the box and even as a slot defender. Simply put, he has an extremely versatile skill-set that will be valuable to NFL teams.

The Panthers should not be afraid of adding another player who plays similarly to Chinn. Their skills certainly overlap a bit, but both players are potential big-time defensive playmakers who make an impact against the pass and the run. Building their defensive unit are players like Chinn and Nasirildeen would be a path to success for the Carolina Panthers.

Round 5, 146th Overall

Auburn. 842. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. CB. Roger McCreary. 5. player

Cornerback stands out as a major position of need for the Carolina Panthers and they likely want to address that need before this pick. That being said, there were simply better options available for this team with their first four picks and reaching for need is never a good plan of attack in the NFL Draft.

In the fifth round of this mock draft, the Panthers finally find some value at the cornerback position, taking a chance on Roger McCreary out of Auburn. McCreary is a long and athletic cornerback prospect who shows impressive deep speed and strong on-field awareness in zone coverage. He is never going to be a shut-down cornerback on the outside, but he is a talented player who could grow into a solid depth piece for this team at an important position of need.
