Carolina Panthers snag new QB and more in 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft
Round 6, 184th Overall
With D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson and Curtis Samuel leading the way, the Panthers have had a strong group of playmakers at the wide receiver position this season. That being said, Samuel will hit free agency this offseason and Carolina could look to replace him in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Ihmir Smith-Marsette is a smooth and explosive athlete at the wide receiver position who shows good route running ability, impressive deep speed and can certainly create after the catch. His upside has always been limited in the run-heavy Iowa offensive attack, but Smith-Marsette is undoubtedly a gifted receiver who could make an impact at the next level.
In Smith-Marsette, the Panthers find a potential replacement for Samuel in the slot at an extremely low cost. If nothing else, his kick return ability would be valuable for this team.
Round 6, 216th Overall
T.J. Carter is a quick and smooth cornerback prospect who shows impressive upside as a press-man defender. He is an aggressive cornerback who has obvious athletic upside and could grow into a strong player at an important position of need for the Carolina Panthers.
Round 7, 227th Overall
With their final pick of this mock draft, the Panthers find some beef for the middle of their defense. Bobby Brown III is a big and powerful run defender who does a great job of plugging up holes up front. He is a strong two-gap defender who sheds blocks well and does a great job of eating up double-team blocks.
Brown is not much of a threat as a pass rusher, but he can pressure some from the inside by using his raw power. Simply put, Brown is a strong and stable presence in the middle who will have obvious value on early downs at the next level.
