Round 2, 38th Overall

Scouting Report. Penn State. Pick Analysis. TE. Pat Freiermuth. 2. player. 806

Florida tight end Kyle Pitts is commonly considered a potential first-round target for this team. Pitts is great, but I have a hard time believing that the Carolina Panthers would take him over a quarterback that they like. After taking care of their quarterback need in the first round, the Panthers make a move for another tight end early in the second round, adding Penn State’s Pat Freiermuth to the mix.

Freiermuth is a big and athletic tight end prospect who has the speed and quickness to separate from most linebackers. He is an impressive route runner at the tight end position who also does a great job of using his size to dominate in contested-catch situations. Friermuth also shows some exciting upside as a run-after-catch receiver and is a strong run blocker a majority of the time.

Simply put, Freiermuth is an impact tight end prospect who will be a matchup nightmare at the next level. He can consistently make an impact as an inline player, but also shows the ability to line up outside and make plays in the passing game as a receiver if needed. This would be a good value pick at an obvious position of need for the Carolina Panthers here.

Round 3, 70th Overall

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 3. 829. IOL. Alabama. Deonte Brown. player

The Panthers could stand to add some quality depth across their entire offensive line and find an opportunity to improve at the offensive guard position in the third round of this mock draft.

Deonte Brown is a big and strong offensive guard prospect who shines in the run game and consistently dominates at the point of attack. He moves opposing defenders out of his way with ease and shows the mobility needed to attack the second level successfully. Brown is also a solid pass protector who can hold his own inside and is particularly impressive when allowed to sink in and anchor against a power rusher.

Simply put, Brown is a talented offensive guard prospect who could come in and immediately be an impact starter for the Carolina Panthers up front.
