Recapping the three-round haul for the Cincinnati Bengals in the recent 2021 NFL mock draft at NFL Mocks.

On Monday morning, a brand new 2021 NFL mock draft dropped on NFL Mocks and this time we went three rounds deep with our predictions. This kind of mock draft allows us to look a bit deeper into the class and see how draft classes for specific teams can take shape.

With this mock draft fresh on the mind, I wanted to take a look at some specific draft hauls and talk about that team’s class as a whole. We started with the New York Jets, then recapped the Jacksonville Jaguars and are now going to take a look at the mock draft haul of the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Bengals had a worse weekend than any other NFL team. Not only did they suffer a 20-9 loss to the Washington Football Team, but Cincinnati also lost star quarterback Joe Burrow to an ugly knee injury. Not only is Burrow out for the year, but he also may not be ready for the start of next season. This is the worst-case scenario for the Cincinnati Bengals and hurts their ability to compete both now and in the long-term.

Without Burrow, Cincinnati will struggle to find another win this season and with this in mind, they held the third overall pick in our recent 2021 NFL mock draft. Their three-round haul in this mock draft came together as followed:

Round 1, 3rd Overall: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon
Round 2, 35th Overall: Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue
Round 3, 67th Overall: Joe Tryon, EDGE, Washington

If the Cincinnati Bengals end up having the third overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the pick will be easy. Penei Sewell is the best non-quarterback in this draft class and the Bengals have a massive need on the offensive line. Sewell is the best offensive tackle prospect in recent memory and would undoubtedly be able to come in and improve the Bengals’ ability to protect Burrow going forward.

Cincinnati Bengals also find a dynamic playmaker

With their second-round selection, the Cincinnati Bengals were able to snag Purdue wide receiver Rondale Moore. Moore is considered by most to be a likely first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, but extreme depth at the wide receiver position caused him to slide a bit in this mock draft. The Bengals were able to sit back and reap the benefits of this slide and add Moore to their already impressive group of playmakers.

Moore is an extremely quick and explosive receiver who shines in run-after-catch situations. He shows elite short-area quickness and runs crisp routes. Moore can shake defenders with ease in space and is a threat to take it to the house from anywhere on the field. Putting Moore into the mix with guys like A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins would give Burrow an exciting group of weapons to work with going forward.

With their final pick of this mock draft, the Bengals paid some attention to the defensive side of the ball with the addition of edge rusher Joe Tryon. Tryon is a bit of a project player, but he is extremely quick off of the ball and has a ton of upside as a speed rusher around the edge. The Bengals need to take some chances on some potential impact defensive talent and a guy like Tryon certainly fits the bill.

More than anything, the Bengals need to use the upcoming offseason to stock-pile talent around Joe Burrow and put him in the best possible situation to succeed going forward. Being in a position to bring in a guy like Penei Sewell is obviously a great start, but getting lucky enough to also land Rondale Moore would be fantastic. Agree? Disagree?
