Quarterback

The Colts signed Rivers to hold down the fort in 2020, but what about after that? Are they really going to go back to Jacoby Brissett? I highly doubt it. This feels like a premium landing spot for a young, talented quarterback to come in and develop.

Jordan Love stands out as the most obvious fit for this team, but only if he slips down the board a bit. If Love falls into the early 20s, do not be surprised to see Ballard get aggressive and make a move up. If he values Love as a potential franchise quarterback, a move up from No. 34 into the first round to pick up that fifth-year option would certainly make some sense.

Love is a poor on-field decision-maker at this point in his career, but he has all of the raw talent to be a star at the next level. Love is an athletic quarterback prospect who has a rocket for a right arm and shows impressive accuracy to all fields. If he can learn to read defenses better and work through his progressions at the next level, the sky is the limit. Sitting behind Rivers for a year in a stable environment would be an ideal situation for Love.

If Love is not within striking distance, the Colts could then look to guys like Jalen Hurts and Jacob Eason in the second round. At worst, this team will likely take a flyer on a quarterback on Day 3 of the 2020 NFL Draft, with guys like Anthony Gordon, James Morgan and Jake Luton standing out as worthy options.
