2020 NFL Draft: First-round mock draft where Chase Young goes No. 1

The Dallas Cowboys have an extremely talented secondary that is built well for the modern NFL. That being said, many of their defensive backs will be hitting free agency soon and they will likely need to stock up at the position sooner, rather than later.

With the 21st pick of this 2020 NFL draft scenario, the Cowboys bring in a playmaker in the defensive backfield. Xavier McKinney is listed as a safety, but he is an extremely well-rounded player who can make an impact all over the field.

McKinney is an impressive in-the-box safety who can come up and make plays against the run and can create some pressure in the blitz game. He is also a talented coverage player who has the range and ball skills to be an impact player on the back-end and the man-to-man coverage skills to even play some slot cornerback.

With their third and final selection in the first round of this mock draft, the Miami Dolphins add to their offensive line with the selection of Alabama’s Alex Leatherwood. Here, the Dolphins get their new franchise quarterback the guy who is protecting him in college.

Leatherwood is an extremely athletic offensive lineman who moves well in space. He gets off of the ball quickly, reaches the second-level with ease and mirrors extremely well in pass protection. Leatherwood also shows plenty of natural power and is strong at the point of attack. He is a good run blocker and great pass protector who has obvious upside at the next level. Here at number 22, the Dolphins find their franchise left tackle.
