2020 NFL Draft: First-round mock draft where Chase Young goes No. 1
Cornerback is an obvious position of need for the Kansas City Chiefs. They have struggled mightily against opposing passing attacks in recent years and their lack of impact defensive backs is a major reason why. However, I would argue that their biggest defensive issue is at linebacker. Their linebackers are simply too slow and consistently struggle in coverage. The Chiefs simply must find modern linebackers who can defend in space.
If it were not for a torn ACL suffered before the season, Dylan Moses would be the clear top linebacker prospect in the 2020 NFL draft class. The knee injury is less than ideal, but it happened early enough that Moses should be completely ready to go by the time next season rolls around.
He is an extremely explosive and athletic linebacker who tackles well in space and shows fantastic sideline-to-sideline range. He is also a great zone coverage defender who understands his responsibilities in the middle of the field and shows impressive natural ball skills. Simply put, Moses has the speed and athleticism that the Chiefs desperately need at the linebacker position.
Javon Kinlaw has been fantastic this season and is in the conversation to be one of the best interior defensive linemen in the 2020 NFL Draft. Kinlaw is extremely quick off of the ball and powerful at the point of attack. He shows a quick and powerful punch and gets a consistent upfield burst on the interior.
Kinlaw is a strong run defender who can make an impact as a one or two-gap defender. His interior pass rush upside is also a major asset. The Minnesota Vikings have a strong defensive line, but you can never have too many players who can create pressure up front. Kinlaw would be a fantastic addition to their defensive front seven.
