S. 15. player. 123. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LSU. Grant Delpit

LSU safety Grant Delpit is undoubtedly one of the most talented players in the 2020 NFL draft class. He is a fantastic defensive playmaker who can do it all at the safety position. As great as Delpit is, NFL teams do not tend to value the safety position highly in the draft. Simply based on the position that he plays, Delpit is a major candidate to slide in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Delpit is an impressive coverage safety who has impressive natural man-to-man skills. He has the combination of size and athleticism that will allow him to compete with the matchup nightmare tight ends in the NFL. Delpit is even quick and natural enough in coverage to compete as a slot cornerback. Delpit has not been asked to play much deep safety in college, but he shows the range and ball skills to be successful at that position.

The Cowboys have an obvious need for some quality safety depth and Delpit is the kind of playmaker at the position that they need. His ability to make plays in coverage and against the run gives Delpit obvious value at the next level and makes him a great fit for Dallas.

While other teams shy away from Delpit because of the position he plays, the Cowboys sit back and take the best player on the board. He would also happen to fill a major need for this team.
