Henry Ruggs III. 13. player. 13. Pick Analysis. WR. Alabama. Scouting Report

There simply were not any obvious targets on the board for the Los Angeles Chargers in this spot. They could really use some help on the offensive line, but taking one here would be a reach. There were a couple of cornerbacks who were considered, but in the end, Henry Ruggs III stood out as the best fit.

Ruggs is an incredible playmaker at the wide receiver position who has absolutely massive upside at the next level. He has legitimately elite speed and quickness that will translate into big plays at the next level. Ruggs is the fastest and most explosive prospect in the 2020 NFL draft class and has a chance to break records at the Scouting Combine.

His ridiculous natural speed is obviously what stands out on tape, but Ruggs is a productive receiver who has a well-rounded skill-set. It is not surprising to learn that Ruggs can create separation in his routes, but you may be surprised to hear that Ruggs can create that separation with his smooth route running as much as he can with his speed. He is a crisp and efficient route runner who is able to find space in all situations.

Ruggs also shows soft hands and wins many contested-catch situations. He is obviously a tremendous playmaker with the ball in his hands as well.

If they can add Ruggs in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Chargers would immediately have one of the best and most well-rounded groups of receivers in the entire league. A starting trio of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Ruggs would give opposing defensive backs nightmares.
