New York Jets: Chase Young, EDGE, Ohio State

With quarterback Sam Darnold likely to return soon, the New York Jets should get back on track in the near future. They are not a great football team by any means, but barring more bad luck, the Jets should not be in the top pick conversation when the 2020 NFL Draft rolls around.

Basically, when Darnold returns, I expect the Jets to be much better, making them an unlikely team to actually end up having the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. That being said, crazier things have happened.

If the Jets do end up holding that top pick, taking Tagovailoa is unlikely. They may look to trade the pick to a quarterback-needy team, but if they cannot find a deal that works, Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young stands out as the obvious selection for the team.

Young is an absolute monster on the edge, showing a fantastic combination of power and athleticism at the defensive end position. He is extremely quick off of the snap, gets tremendous upfield burst and can bend around the edge with ease. He is also a solid run defender who sets the edge well.

The Jets have severely lacked impact edge rushers for many years and Young is the best defensive player in the entire 2020 NFL draft class. They do not need a quarterback, making Young an obvious target for this team if they are picking high.
