Mac Jones Trade Rumors: Three ideal landing spots for Patriots QB (to revive his NFL career)

Like him or hate him, the one thing Mac Jones proved during his rookie season in the NFL is that he can be effective with the right coaching and some playmakers around him.  Not that the Patriots had top talent in 2021, but they did have one of the top offenses which showed Jones can lead an NFL offense.

When looking at coaching and talent on offense, the Los Angeles Rams come to mind because of what Sean McVay can do with a young, capable quarterback.  With his scheme and coaching style, McVay could possibly revive the confidence of Jones, who could also benefit from a year or two playing behind a veteran like Matthew Stafford who is on the downside of his career.

If the Patriots could get a mid-round pick for Mac Jones, this is a situation that could benefit the Patriots, Rams and Jones.  The Patriots would at least get something of value for a QB who didn’t work out, the Rams could have a young player with some success in the NFL to groom behind Stafford and Jones will get an ideal opportunity in league.

The question in this scenario would be if McVay could work his magic to mold Mac Jones into some combination of Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford.  He’s not as talented as those players, but he has similar tools as far as managing an offense.
