Will the Rams find a way not to play the number one overall pick from the 2016 NFL Draft?

Rams fans have been cautiously optimistic with the number one overall pick from the 2016 NFL Draft, Jared Goff. Knowing they missed on Carson Went and Dak Prescott, both of whom have established themselves as franchise quarterbacks, the hopes are not high on Goff.

First year head coach Sean McVay, who’s just nine years older than Goff, isn’t ready to hand the Cal product any job just yet.

After practice Tuesday McVay was asked about the quarterback situation he’s faced with between Goff and 2015 third-round pick Sean Mannion.

"“Right now, we feel really good about what they’ve both [Jared Goff and Sean Mannion] done,” McVay continued. “Jared’s done a nice job of getting better, but you always want to make sure you’re playing the guy that you feel like gives you the best ability to win football games. Right now, Jared is the starter.”"

McVay’s entire press conference can be viewed below.

The Rams organization is far from winning, and despite any positive signs from Mannion you have to think there’s pressure to play Goff.

Los Angeles invested multiple blue-chip draft picks to acquire Goff and need to know sooner rather than later what they have.

Goff is far from a finished product, but the Rams need to put some form of a product on the field in 2017 with the disappointing news regarding their stadium lingering.
