NFC North Hype: Can the Lions and/or Packers take control of the division

While the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings are hoping to get things turned around quick in the NFC North, both the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers host home games in Week 3 that could give them a leg up in the division.

First, the Lions host an undefeated Atlanta Falcons team that has surprised through the first two weeks of the season.  Coming off a 37-31 overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Lions are hoping to bounce back in this intriguing matchup.

Through the first two weeks, the Lions have come as advertised.  The offense behind quarterback Jared Goff has been legit.  While the defense showed up in the season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, they had a hard time handling the Seahawks.  The Falcons don’t present as potent as a challenge, but the Lions’ defense will need to correct poor tackling issues to secure their first win at home on Sunday.

As for the Packers, the team hosts the undefeated New Orleans Saints at Lambeau Field in Week 3.  The Pack is coming off a last second lost to the Falcons, a game in which they squandered a 12-point loss.  So, Green Bay will be motivated at home to get back in the win column and stay on top of the division.

A key player in the game is obviously Jordan Love, who wasn’t bad in Sunday’s loss to the Falcons, but he wasn’t as explosive as he was in the team’s Week 1 victory in which he threw for over 400 yards.  Still, Love is rising up the quarterback rankings and as the team continues to the win, there will be more and more love shown towards the Packers new leader under center.
