Round 2, 54th Overall: George Pickens, WR, Georgia

This is a dream scenario for the New England Patriots. The New England Patriots desperately need to find a WR1, and they get one here in the second. Kendrick Bourne has been a great WR2 in the offense, but with N’Keal Harry not meeting expectations, and Nelson Agholor a free agent after 2022, it’s time to get back to getting that “X” type.

George Pickens didn’t really get a ton of target for the Bulldogs on the championship run after returning from an ACL injury, but the traits are there. He has the elite size, explosiveness, hands, and catch radius to be a multi-level threat in the passing game.

Round 3, 85th Overall: Leo Chenal, LB, Wisconsin

The linebacker room for the Patriots is one that could look pretty bare this time next year. With Dont’a Hightower and Jamie Collins free agents this March, and Kyle Van Noy and Raekwon McMillan free agents after 2022, it will be time for an influx of youth.

Leo Chenal is one of the better linebackers in the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s around 260 pounds, which might make him a SAM to some teams, but he does a great job working downhill to the ball, disengaging from blocks, shooting gaps, and excels with his recognition and processing skills. He fits the “do your job” mold.
