20th Overall (From Dolphins): Malik Willis, QB, Liberty

As discussed, there is still skepticism surrounding Jalen Hurts as the future for the Philadelphia Eagles. He will get a chance to prove it this season, but ultimately, with (potentially) three first round selections, the Eagles will likely have a chance to move up to get their guy if they so choose.

Here, they wait (not often a good move) and select Liberty quarterback Malik Willis. Willis is well on the 2022 NFL Draft radar to this point, and has found himself in round one mocks.

Willis is an incredible athlete, and has the speed, quickness, and change of directions skills to make big plays as a runner. He’s got a cannon for an arm and isn’t afraid to challenge defenses deep and challenge tight windows. Willis is also tough and poised in the pocket.

Willis is still a project, however, as he needs to work on perhaps two of the most important attributes for a quarterback: accuracy and decision making. He needs to slow his velocity at times and work on touch, and gain more consistency as a passer. Willis provides the upside to be selected here.

23rd Overall (From Colts): Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington

The Philadelphia Eagles have put together their secondary with some patchwork this season, like signing Steven Nelson, and are seeing good things with Zech McPhearson in camp so far. However, this secondary is still worth investing in at this point, and the 2022 NFL Draft is shaping up to be an excellent one at the corner position.

Trent McDuffie could be the latest defensive back to succeed from the Washington Huskies. McDuffie plays aggressive at the line of scrimmage, is willing and physical in the run game, and has great awareness in zone and great footwork in man coverage. He’s also a fluid athlete with good transition skills.

Size may be a concern for some regarding McDuffie, and he doesn’t have elite length to be a great disruptor as a press corner, but his coverage skills and temperament would be great for the Eagles.
