Round 2, 38th Overall: Jaxson Kirkland, OT, Washington

The offensive line for the Philadelphia Eagles is in need of some help going forward. Brandon Brooks coming back is a huge help, but he’s coming off an injury that is a tough one to regain form from. They added Landon Dickerson to be the future of the interior in the draft. Andre Dillard has struggled mightily since being a first round selection, and there’s a chance he doesn’t even start for Philadelphia this season. Jordan Mailata will be given a chance, but it remains to be seen if he’s the long-term answer.

Huskies tackle Jaxson Kirkland could be the difference at left tackle. Kirkland has experience at both guard and tackle, but has done a very good job at tackle in his collegiate career.

With Kirkland, it starts with the athleticism. He has very good initial quicks out of his stance, and has the movement skills for a zone scheme. His pass protection skills are excellent, and he does well with his initial strike and has active hands to keep defenders off-balance. Kirkland also has the size and frame to anchor well.

Managing his stature (6’7″) will be the struggle at the next level, but he’s well on his way to become a future starter in the NFL, and would be a great pick for the Eagles here.
