2022 NFL Mock Draft: QBs go 1-2, Defense Dominates Top 10
It’s going to be a weird year in New Orleans for the Saints after longtime quarterback Drew Brees retired. Seeing a new starter will be odd at first, but the intrigue will be there, as both Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill fight for the starting job. It’s likely both get snaps at quarterback this season, which makes things complicated for next offseason.
The Saints could easily be in the quarterback market in the 2022 NFL Draft, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see that be the pick next spring. However, receiver looks like a major need for the team right now. Tre’Quan Smith has yet to break out, and missing Michael Thomas until October really shows the lack of depth on this team.
The Saints wish that Chris Olave was available in this past draft, but they select him here in this mock. Olave checks the boxes of a dynamic WR2 in the NFL. He’s a very good deep threat, and is a reliable tracker of the football deep down the field. Olave is a very good route runner as well, and does good work at the top of his stems. He’d be a seamless fit in a Saints offense that works to all levels of the field.
