2022 NFL Mock Draft: QBs go 1-2, Defense Dominates Top 10
So far, the New England Patriots are looking for their identity after the departure of Tom Brady. They looked good at times with Cam Newton at the helm in 2020, but some costly miscues in key moments left this team out of the postseason. Now, things will be revamped for Newton, especially in terms of the receiving group.
Jakobi Meyers should still be heavily involved, but the additions of Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne will make the offense feel more dynamic. Tight end Jonnu Smith will also help in this area, and Henry provides a big red zone target.
First round pick Mac Jones will be in waiting long-term, and it’s important that he have a great arsenal with him whenever he takes up the starting mantle. So, it’s time to go back to the well at receiver here for the Patriots in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
Garrett Wilson looks like the surefire 2022 NFL Draft WR1 to this point, and while there’s a lot of time left for things to change, Wilson would fit well in New England. He’s a dynamic route runner who can win at all levels of the field, attacks the ball well in the air and in contested spots, and is tough to handle after the catch. He could be WR1 for the Patriots sooner than later.
