Are the Green Bay Packers going to get one ‘last dance’ with Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams in the 2021 season? It sure looks that way.

It has been a wild three months if you’re a fan of the Green Bay Packers. League MVP Aaron Rodgers reportedly wanted out of Green Bay this offseason and on the day of the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the news of the disgruntled QB wanting out was broken by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Fans of the NFL in general have been following the Packers-Rodgers saga very closely over the last three months and it now looks like Rodgers is going to play for Green Bay after all.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Rodgers has told some people close to him that he will play for the Packers in 2021.

This bit of news comes as a bummer to Denver Broncos fans, who have been hoping since the night of the 2021 NFL Draft that a trade between them and the Green Bay Packers might materialize.

For the time being, that isn’t going to happen.

Just a couple of days before Rapoport broke this story, both Aaron Rodgers and his WR1 Davante Adams took to Instagram to send a message.

They each posted the same exact photo perhaps foreshadowing the news to come.

This photo, posted by both Rodgers and Adams, is a clear message about the documentary that aired on ESPN in 2020 called The Last Dance, which followed the story of the Chicago Bulls dynasty of the 1990s.

The dynasty ended prematurely in the eyes of many involved with the team because of the way general manager Jerry Krause approached his job. Krause was not exactly beloved among the Chicago Bulls’ players despite the fact that he made some great moves in his tenure.

Those great moves were overshadowed in the end by Krause’s decision to essentially break the team up following the 1998-99 season, a decision he made almost a year in advance.

The impending separation of one of the greatest pro sports dynasties in history became known internally as “The Last Dance”.

That parallel is easy to draw now with Rodgers and Adams as Rodgers has major beef with Green Bay Packers GM Brian Gutekunst and Adams has just broken off contract negotiations after the team refused to make him the highest-paid receiver in the league.

One last dance in Green Bay?

It appears that is the direction things are headed right now.

What will be fascinating is to see what kind of agreement on a contract Rodgers and the Packers come to. There have been multiple reports this offseason about Rodgers turning down a deal from Green Bay that would make him the highest-paid player in the league at his position, which would make him the highest-paid player (at least on an annual basis) of all time.

If that’s the case, perhaps Rodgers would agree to a deal in which the Packers raise his salary for 2021 and cut out the remaining years of his deal, essentially allowing him to become a free agent after the 2021 season.

One last dance with Rodgers and Adams in 2021?

We’re fixing to find out.
