It’s at least a little bit surprising that, at this point, Josh Jackson has not already been traded by the Green Bay Packers.

Jackson was a second-round pick out of Iowa following his All-American campaign in 2017 where he had 18 pass breakups and eight interceptions, two returned for touchdowns.

Jackson’s rapid ascent for the Hawkeyes as a junior obviously has not quite translated to the NFL game, and a change of scenery may be what’s best for him at this point.

The Packers have brought in a number of other high draft picks at cornerback with Jaire Alexander established as the team’s CB1 and now former second-round pick Kevin King re-signing along with the addition of first-round pick Eric Stokes out of Georgia in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Through three seasons in the NFL and 42 career games, Jackson has yet to pick off a single pass. The Packers thrust him into action early with over 700 snaps as a rookie but since that time, he’s played just 434 total snaps in 2019 and 2020 combined.

At this point, Jackson is probably not going to have a role in Joe Barry’s defense and might benefit from getting traded to a team where he can get a fresh start.
