San Francisco 49ers mock draft: Round 3, 103rd overall
One of the positions the 49ers addressed early in free agency was cornerback as they re-signed Jason Verrett, Emmanuel Moseley and Dontae Johnson. However, the team will still look to add to this position in the 2021 NFL Draft as they need a nickel corner who can push Moseley for a starting job.
Michigan’s Ambry Thomas had a strong 2019 season, before deciding to sit out the 2020 season. Thomas has the skill set to play nickel corner his first season in the NFL as he shows good speed and overall athletic ability. He also has a knack for making plays as he picked off three passes in 2019.
San Francisco 49ers mock draft: Round 4, 118th overall
The 49ers go back to the wide receiver position in the fourth round. It is likely the team will invest several picks at this position in the 2021 NFL Draft as the team lacks depth at this position. San Francisco still likes the upside Jalen Hurd shows but he has yet to stay healthy and free-agent signing Trent Sherfield only has caught nine passes over the last two seasons.
A player who could interest the 49ers on day three of the 2021 NFL Draft is Amari Rodgers out of Clemson. Rodgers is similar to the team’s second-round pick Rondale Moore and current 49er Deebo Samuel in that he is an undersized elusive wide receiver. Another positive with Rodgers is his overall versatility as he has the ability to return kicks and also play a little running back.
