2021 NFL mock draft: Dolphins get Deshaun Watson, other bold QB trades
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 1, 3rd overall
The Texans were able to re-stock their draft capital with the Deshaun Watson trade earlier in this NFL mock draft and here, they take it a step further. Since they were able to land Tagovailoa in the Watson trade, they do not need to take a quarterback here at No. 3. Trading down would be the best plan of attack for Houston in this scenario and the San Francisco 49ers stand out as a strong trade partner.
Are the 49ers really going to move forward with Jimmy Garoppolo as their starting quarterback? This team has a ton of impact talent on both sides of the ball and is led by the brilliant Kyle Shanahan. Garoppolo as the starting quarterback is holding this team back and they must take the opportunity to upgrade the position if they get the opportunity.
That opportunity arises in this 2021 NFL mock draft, as the 49ers are the team to trade up to No. 3. This aggressive move up the board puts the 49ers in a position to land Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields.
Fields is yet another extremely gifted quarterback prospect in this class who has exciting upside at the next level. He is blessed with fantastic natural arm talent, showing the ability to hit any throw on the field and make those throws from unique arm angles when needed. On top of that, Fields is a tremendous athlete who shows an impressive combination of speed and power with the ball in his hands.
Make no mistake about it, Fields is an extremely talented quarterback prospect who would be in a great position to reach his high ceiling under the direction of Shanahan in San Francisco.
