As per usual, the New Orleans Saints are tight up against the cap this offseason. According to Spotrac, the Saints are currently over $70 million over the cap. With this being the case, it seems unlikely that the Saints will be able to re-sign a majority of their free agents this offseason. Defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins is one of their key free agents this offseason and he will be a big loss if they are unable to bring him back, as is expected.

With this in mind, defensive tackle Christian Barmore could make a ton of sense for the team when the 2021 NFL Draft rolls around. Barmore is the best interior defensive lineman in this class and should be taken seriously as a target for teams in this range.

Barmore is extremely quick off of the ball and does a great job of getting thin through the line of scrimmage. He is a fantastic interior penetrator who undoubtedly has exciting upside at the next level.

Barmore also has extremely strong hands and shows tremendous natural block-shed ability. Simply put, he is an impact player up front who shines as a penetrating pass rusher and run defender. The tough cap situation will make it difficult for the Saints to improve this offseason but adding Barmore to the mix in the 2021 NFL Draft would certainly be a step in the right direction.
