2021 NFL Draft: New England Patriots seven-round mock draft
By John Blair
New England Patriots’ third-round pick (This is a project compensatory pick for losing Tom Brady)
The New England Patriots continue to address their passing game in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft when they take Ole Miss wide receiver, Elijah Moore. Moore would be a good fit here for a couple of reasons, with the first one being that he could replace Julian Edelman who might be cut as a cap casualty.
Moore would fit well in this role as he is a smaller receiver who projects well as a slot receiver in the NFL. He shows the quickness to play this position and does a great job of getting separation. He is also an open field threat as a runner, which is a trait the Patriots love to see from their slot receivers.
The New England Patriots also need to bring in all the receivers they can, as this position is sorely lacking in both playmakers and depth. 2019 first-round pick N’Keal Harry has not lived up to where he was drafted and has only caught 45 passes in his first two years with the team. The team’s leading receiver last season was Jakobi Meyers, but he has yet to prove he is someone who opposing teams fear and is not a starting-caliber receiver in the NFL.
