New York Jets: Post-Senior Bowl 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 3, 86th overall
Jackson Carman has been the starting left tackle at Clemson over the last two seasons and has mostly played at a solid level. He is a big and powerful offensive lineman who fires off of the ball quickly and shows impressive natural power at the point of attack. He does lack ideal movement skills up front and it causes him issues against impact speed rushers on the edge.
With this in mind, a move inside to guard is probably in Carman’s best interest at the next level. He is at his best when he is allowed to play aggressively and attack forward. Carman’s lack of mobility would not be as big of an issue on the inside and his power would allow him to consistently shine. Taking Carman here and moving him inside to guard feels like a strong move for the New York Jets.
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 4, 106th overall
Running back stands out as a major position of need for the New York Jets but they can afford to wait until the middle of the draft to address the position. We see later-round running backs come in and make an immediate impact every year and this running back class is loaded with depth. In the fourth round of this 2021 NFL mock draft, the Jets are able to sit back and find value at the position by snagging Kenneth Gainwell in the fourth round.
Gainwell was an impact player in college who showed impressive playmaking ability as both a runner and a receiver. He shows great ball carrier vision, incredible short-area quickness, plenty of burst through the hole and surprising power and contact balance. Gainwell is an impressive playmaker with the ball in his hands who does a great job of getting the most out of every touch.
Gainwell is a tremendous running back prospect who shows the ability to make an impact as both a runner and receiver at the next level. The New York Jets would love to find a young running back who they can feature on the offensive side of the ball and Gainwell would fit the bill perfectly.
