New York Jets: Post-Senior Bowl 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 5, 145th overall
Northern Iowa edge rusher Elerson Smith consistently turned heads at the Senior Bowl and his 2021 NFL Draft stock will likely be on the rise. Smith is a big and powerful defensive end prospect who has great length and consistently sets a strong edge. He is quick off of the snap and shows fantastic natural upfield burst.
Simply put, the Jets need to find as many players as possible who can attack the quarterback. Smith is far from a perfectly polished player but he does have exciting upside and could quickly become a valuable depth piece for the team.
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 5, 154th overall
Cornerback stands out as a major position of need for the New York Jets and they could easily look to address the need prior to this pick. That being said, reaching for need is never a good plan of attack and the Jets have to keep proper value in mind.
This cornerback class as a whole leaves plenty to be desired. Instead of reaching for the need earlier, the New York Jets remain patient in this 2021 NFL mock draft and end up landing Thomas Graham Jr. out of Oregon. Graham is a quick and smooth cornerback prospect who mirrors opposing receivers extremely well. He also shows fantastic natural ball skills and could grow into an impact player for the New York Jets at an important position of need.
2021 NFL mock draft: Round 6, 196th overall
We saw the New York Jets address their wide receiver situation earlier in this 2021 NFL mock draft but there is still work for them to do. Frank Darby is a quick and explosive athlete on the outside who shows the ability to make plays deep down the field.
Darby also shows exciting playmaking ability with the ball in his hands and competes well in contested-catch situations. The Jets need to find as many offensive playmakers as possible this offseason and Darby has a chance to become a fantastic late-round steal.
