Kansas City Chiefs: Top five NFL Draft picks playing in Super Bowl
By John Blair
1. Patrick Mahomes, 1st round, 2017 NFL Draft
The only first-round pick to make this list is the Chiefs’ first-round selection in 2017 NFL Draft, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. All Mahomes has done in his first four years of his career is throw for 114 touchdowns, be named an NFL MVP, and won a Super Bowl. He has also already established himself as clearly one of the best quarterbacks in the entire league.
The biggest question with Mahomes coming out of college was how he would be able to adapt to an NFL offense. This was a concern as he often played a backyard style of football at Texas Tech and looked very raw coming out of college. Luckily for Mahomes, he went to a situation in Kansas City that allowed him to sit for a year behind Alex Smith and refine his game.
When looking at the future for Mahomes, to say it is bright is an understatement. He is still learning the finer points of the game and has one of the best quarterback coaches in the NFL in Andy Reid to lead him on his journey. It would not shock me that, when it is all said and done, Mahomes ends up having more Super Bowl rings than his opponent on Sunday, Tom Brady.
