Los Angeles Chargers seven-round 2021 NFL mock draft
Round 5, 145th Overall
You can never have too many guys who can put pressure on the passer. Jordan Smith is certainly a raw player, but his combination of length and athleticism on the edge makes him a prospect worth taking a chance on. Smith has exciting upside as a speed rusher around the corner and could make an immediate contribution on obvious passing downs and special teams.
Round 6, 183rd Overall
We have hammered away at the Chargers’ offensive line need a couple of times in this mock draft, but have yet to take a pure offensive tackle prospect. Obinna is a complete project player who is undoubtedly not ready to come in and play early in his career. However, if he were, he would be a first-round selection in this mock draft.
Eze is listed at 6-foot-8, 315 pounds and moves incredibly well for his size. Not many guys this big move as well as Eze and he also has long arms and packs plenty of power at the point of attack. Eze will not be ready to compete anytime soon, but if he develops well, he has the skill-set needed to be a fantastic blindside protector.
Round 6, 204th Overall
Ihmir Smith-Marsette could be a great value selection in this range. He is a fast and smooth wide receiver prospect who is slippery in space and explosive when he finds a path. Smith-Marsette is a weapon as a deep receiver and can certainly create after the catch. He is also a strong special teams player who has plenty of experience as a returner.
Round 7, 226th Overall
With their ninth and final selection of this mock draft, the Los Angeles Chargers swing for the fences at the linebacker position. Amari Burney is a converted safety who shows impressive natural speed and athleticism for a linebacker. His on-field awareness is lacking, but if he can improve in that area, he undoubtedly has a high ceiling at the next level. If nothing else, Burney should be able to make some plays on special teams.
