Denver Broncos 2nd-round pick

Now this would be fascinating.

The Denver Broncos absolutely need to find a better hedge for Drew Lock than Jeff Driskel, Blake Bortles, or probably even Brett Rypien.

Rypien has proven he is a capable backup but what if the Broncos don’t see from Lock over the final six games of the 2020 season what they need to see to build around him?

Even if Lock shows progression over the final six games and is considered the odds-on starter in 2021, a pick like Kyle Trask in round two would make a lot of sense for the Broncos.

Trask has broken out over the last 12 months as one of the most efficient quarterbacks in college football. He has been on a better pace so far in the 2020 season at Florida than Joe Burrow was in the 2019 season at LSU, statistically.

So why is this guy not being considered for the top overall pick in 2021?

Right now, the clear question marks with Trask are his velocity and mobility. He’s a little clunky in the pocket and doesn’t have a ton of zip on his passes. Even still, he’s operating the Florida offense beautifully and would be a worthy flyer in round two if he’s still available here.
