I was wrong. My preseason mock draft had the Chicago Bears with the first pick and that was well off. The defense has shown up and Nick Foles has had his usual streaky season. They’re playing so well that I know have them in the playoffs and well out of range to land Trevor Lawrence or any of the top quarterback prospects, leaving them with Foles for at least another year, unless they make a trade.

Since the Bears will be well out of range to land their quarterback of the future in the 2021 NFL Draft, they work on protecting who they have. With four offensive linemen already off the board, the Bears turn to the second Virginia Tech player off the board, Christian Darrisaw.

During the 2019 season, Darrisaw started all 13 games at left tackle for the Hokies, earning Second Team All-ACC from Athlon Sports and Third Team from Phil Steele. The 2020 season has been a strong one for Darrisaw as well. So far, he has already been named an ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week after guiding Virginia Tech to 324 rushing yards against Duke.

The Bears’ offense has struggled to find consistency, but adding an anchor to the line like Darrisaw can make a big difference.
