Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson

When looking for a player that can turn a franchise around in the 2021 NFL Draft, the first name that should come to mind is Trevor Lawrence. The Clemson star quarterback has been at the top of draft boards since he stepped on campus at Clemson and after saying this season will be his last in college, teams are vying for position to draft him.

Lawrence has been dominant in his time with Clemson, currently with 81 touchdowns and just 13 interceptions with almost 8,500 passing yards. For that reason, there are multiple teams that seem to be “tanking for Trevor,” whether or not it’s on purpose.

Most rookie quarterbacks are held back by poor offensive lines. While Lawrence will face those struggles as well, depending on who drafts him, he has the athleticism and football IQ to work out of those tough situations. The bumps will be the same as any rookie, but Lawrence has the tools to shorten his learning curve.

Whichever team Lawrence lands with should have good fortune on the field for his entire tenure with the team, but it should also begin soon after he’s drafted. All first-round quarterbacks are expected to transform the franchise that drafts them, but Lawrence has the ability to do it on day one.
