The Los Angeles Chargers decided to move on from veteran quarterback Philip Rivers this offseason, and they replaced him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft with Oregon’s Justin Herbert.
Herbert certainly has the physical tools NFL teams covet, but his consistency and ability to read the field are not where they need to be even after four years of starting in college.
The Chargers made big-time additions on both sides of the ball, sticking their division rival Broncos where it hurts by luring top slot corner Chris Harris Jr. to an already stellar secondary.
The Chargers still have a huge hole at whatever OT position Bryan Bulaga is not playing, and despite the investment made in Herbert at QB, what are they going to get out of either him or Tyrod Taylor in 2020?
The Chargers’ roster overall looks improved for 2020, but theirs is a rebuilding process that is not yet complete, at least not offensively.
