1.17. CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma

The Dallas Cowboys got the steal of the first round, selecting Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb at pick 17 overall. Lamb was my highest grated wide receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft and he somehow fell right in the Cowboys’ laps.

There are times when you forget about need and draft the best available player and this was certainly one of those times. Lamb has the physicality and playmaking ability that could make the Dallas Cowboys one of the scariest offenses in the NFL.

Dallas brought back Amari Cooper on a five-year deal worth $100 million, but he won’t be getting the same number of catches as last season. Lamb will now help form the deadliest triple threat at receiver alongside Cooper and 2018 third-round pick Michael Gallup.

Dak Prescott has yet to sign an extension, but he may want to sign soon when he sees exactly who he has to throw to. He has a solid offensive line to go with great receivers and one of the league’s best all-around running backs in Zeke Elliott. Add Lamb into that and you’re looking at a potential career year for Prescott.

In Lamb’s final season at Oklahoma, he put up eye-opening numbers. He had 62 receptions for 1327 yards and 14 touchdowns. His run after catch ability and elusiveness is a big reason why his numbers are so high.
