Quarterbacks

It’s popular (and almost gospel) in mock drafts to have the Miami Dolphins moving up to select a quarterback, and it obviously makes a ton of sense. This Miami team is ready to find its franchise quarterback and run with it, and this draft class, plus their capital, give them the means to move up as far as the second pick to secure their guy.

The clear top target is Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa was ranked as the top signal-caller in the draft back in summer scouting, and for good reason. He has top-level accuracy to all levels of the field, has a quick release, and good mobility to maneuver the pocket. Tagovailoa also excels in the RPO game. Injuries put some concern on him, but he’s reportedly been improving well. Giving up five, 18, and 39 to move up to the second or third pick for Tagovailoa makes a ton of sense.

On the outside chance it’s not a quarterback with their first selection, there’s an outside shot the Dolphins could move up from 18 to secure Utah State passer Jordan Love, who has plenty of upside with his insane arm talent, great touch on the football, and the ability to be a playmaker when things break down.
