2020 NFL Draft: New York Giants late-round sleeper targets
By Andrew Kim
OLB- Carter Coughlin, Minnesota
The Giants tend to draft smaller or leaner edge rushers. They drafted Lorenzo Carter and moved him around, despite not utilizing his best traits as a pure athletic pass rusher. The signing of Kyler Fackrell adds to their group that has Oshane Ximines, edge rusher that they drafted last year, and Devante Downs along with Chris Peace.
Minnesota hybrid linebacker Carter Coughlin may fit the tweener role and is undersized at 6-foot-3, 236 pounds. The senior, rushing off the edge, had his best season in 2018 where he was half a sack shy of double-digit sacks (with nine and a half). He was a playmaker against the run, forcing eight fumbles and amassed 22.5 tackles for loss in his collegiate career.
ILB- Shaun Bradley, Temple
Blake Martinez, David Mayo, and Ryan Connelly making up a decent linebacker trio that is certainly an upgrade from last year. Include Josiah Tauaefa in their as well for depth. However, they are missing some speed in the inside of their defense. The Giants usually prioritize in stopping the run in their 3-4 defense and pick linebackers that fit that mold.
A potential WILL linebacker, Shaun Bradley could be in the cards for them as an athletic linebacker with some burst. Despite being undersized at 6-foot-1, 235 pounds, he is very compact and has a nose for stopping the run. The Temple senior had 22 total tackles for loss in his three years starting and dealt with an injury his freshman year. Bradley could be a candidate to get taken within the last two rounds and could land near his home state of New Jersey.
