Offensive Line

The Texans’ offensive line continued to struggle last season and if they ever want to get the most out of quarterback Deshaun Watson, they simply must start protecting him better. Houston has invested significant resources into the offensive line in the last year, but there is still more work to do.

Natural improvement out of Tytus Howard and Max Scharping should help this unit, but I would like to see the Texans make another investment or two in the offensive line (probably on the interior in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Possible OL Targets: Cesar Ruiz, Lloyd Cushenberry III, Jonah Jackson, Robert Hunt, Netane Muti, Ben Bredeson, Solomon Kindley, Michael Onwenu, Darryl Williams.

Wide Receiver

Let’s be honest, the Houston Texans are not going to replace DeAndre Hopkins through the 2020 NFL Draft. That being said, if we look at their current depth chart at the wide receiver position, there is not too much to get excited about. Their top four of Will Fuller, Kenny Stills, Randall Cobb and Keke Coutee is decent, but there is certainly room for improvement there.

Simply put, wide receiver stands out as a major need for this team and they could easily look to fill the position as early as their first pick in the upcoming draft.

Possible WR Targets: Denzel Mims, Brandon Aiyuk, Tee Higgins, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Chase Claypool, Antonio Gandy-Golden, Isaiah Hodgins, Lynn Bowden Jr., K.J. Hill.

Running Back

As part of the Hopkins trade, the Texans made a significant investment in running back David Johnson. They appear ready to move forward with him as their featured back, but let’s be honest, Johnson did not look great last year. The Texans should at least look take a flyer on a running back who could take some carries both now and in the future.

Possible RB Targets: AJ Dillon, Zack Moss, Anthony McFarland, Darrynton Evans, Ke’Shawn Vaughn, Eno Benjamin.
