Tier 2

Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2020 age: 26)

The former top overall pick and Heisman winner from Florida State threw 33 touchdowns and 30 interceptions this season.

What if I told you he and Bruce Arians aren’t on the same page? I don’t know that as fact, but listening to Arians comment about Winston after the season, I don’t think the Bucs will bring their former top pick back.

Winston is going to want a lot of money, and understandably so. As hard as it is to throw 30 interceptions, it’s also hard to throw 33 touchdowns. And the Bucs went through a stretch this season where they were winning some tough games.

Winston is not in the top tier right now but his potential is obviously still big even though his decision making is poor.

I would love to see a team utilizing an offense catered to the QB making a lot of easy throws give Jameis a shot to sort of revive his career.

Team fits: New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Chargers

Philip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers (2020 age: 38)

Rivers has proven in recent years that he doesn’t care much for statistical beauty. He’s willing to throw picks if it means he’s also putting his team in a position to win.

There are teams that could use Rivers’ leadership abilities, perhaps in a backup role, but he is still capable of playing at a high enough level to start in the NFL.

Rivers is from Alabama and played college ball at NC State. Perhaps he will return to the Southeastern portion of the USA to finish out his NFL career.

Team fits: Carolina Panthers, Minnesota Vikings (backup), Las Vegas Raiders, Indianapolis Colts
