Tier 3

Teddy Bridgewater, New Orleans Saints (2020 age: 27/28)

Teddy Bridgewater has made a miraculous comeback from a gruesome leg injury, and has played some solid football over the past couple of years.

He seems poised to get a starting job from some team, but what price do you pay for a guy with a significant leg injury in his history as well as nine touchdowns in nine games played this season?

I like Bridgewater as an accurate passer, but I question how much he really elevates an offense as a full-time starter.

Team fits: Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers

Marcus Mariota, Tennessee Titans (2020 age: 26/27)

Time has not run out for the former Heisman Trophy winner out of Oregon in the NFL, but it has run out on his time with the Titans.

The Titans are just not a fit for Mariota, whose regression as a passer has been staggering the past couple of seasons.

He needs a fresh start in the worst way. This is a guy who threw 26 touchdown passes in just his second NFL season. He was looking like a future star with the ability to both throw and run.

Ironically, he needs a similar type of jolt to his career that Ryan Tannehill got from being his backup this year with the Titans.

Mariota’s skills are there. The offense and fit have to be there as well. It just so happens his former offensive coordinator and QBs coach at Oregon, Mark Helfrich, works with the Chicago Bears under Matt Nagy.
