Chicago Bears complete seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft
The Chicago Bears currently hold two second-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft. With their first selection of this mock draft, the Bears get some much-needed offensive line help in the form of Tennessee’s Trey Smith.
Smith is a big and powerful offensive lineman who is extremely strong at the point of attack. He is absolutely dominant on the interior, consistently clearing out running lanes with ease. He does have some limited mobility but moves well enough to consistently get the job done in pass protection at guard.
Smith has become a dominant guard for Tennessee, but he was once a good left tackle for the team. I expect Smith to remain at guard at the next level, but it could be tempting for a team to kick him back outside. Regardless, the Chicago Bears have needs at both tackle and guard. No matter where he plays, Smith would be a strong addition to their offensive line mix.
Just a few picks later, the Bears go back on the clock in the second round. This time, they attack their defensive needs, bringing in TCU cornerback Jeff Gladney.
Gladney is a smart and athletic cornerback on the outside, who reads the quarterback well and shows great natural instincts in coverage. He mirrors opposing receivers well and is quick to the ball in coverage. Gladney is a strong man-to-man defender who could play outside or in the slot at the next level. He also has tremendous ball skills and soft hands for a cornerback.
