With Trent Williams officially checking out on the Redskins organization, Washington now has a glaring need at left tackle. Whether they trade Williams or flat out cut him is another story, but Washington would do well to address the position in the 2020 NFL Draft. And drafting Jones would be a good way to address that issue.

In addition to Williams’s imminent departure, the play at the tackle position both in his stead and opposite of his replacement has been less than stellar. Donald Penn is on the back end of his career and has shown signs of regression while the typically reliable starter in Morgan Moses hasn’t played up to his usual standards. The offensive line play has been so lackluster, that rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins was seen in a viral video begging the Redskins o-line to help him.

If Haskins is their quarterback of the future, then Washington needs to surround him with an offensive line that will allow him to win them ball games. While Washington is definitely in the Thomas sweepstakes, they could go elsewhere with their first-round pick. Jones could be in play for them should he fall to the third round, as Washington does not currently hold their second pick due to the trade up for Montez Sweat in the 2019 NFL Draft.

While Washington is not in quite a dire need for an offensive tackle as other teams on this list, its a position they should address early in the 2020 NFL Draft.
