2020 NFL Draft: 5 teams who should target Houston OT Josh Jones
Los Angeles Chargers
Lastly, we have the Los Angeles Chargers, a team that has underperformed this season despite offseason predictions. This partly due to the regression of quarterback Phillip River, as well as a paper-thin offensive line. With Russell Okung sidelined for most of the season with injuries and a serious medical setback, as well as Sam Tevi dealing with an injury, the Chargers tackles have struggled to sustain quality pass protection.
With both Tevi and Okung dealing with their injuries, the Chargers have been relying on Trent Scott and rookie Trey Pipkins. Both have played up and down, with the rookie Pipkins showing the most promise with his playing time.
Phillip Rivers is likely done after this season, both due to his expiring contract and drop off in play on the field. Whether the quarterback for Chargers is Tyrod Taylor or a rookie, Los Angeles should address the tackle position in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Okung is a free agent after the 2020 season, so taking Jones could be a “for the future” type of pick. Although depending on how they view Pipkins after this season, he could find himself competing for a starting gig.
