Miami Dolphins

As you are probably well aware of by now, particularly if you are a fan, that the Miami Dolphins are in the midst of a massive rebuild. This past offseason, the Dolphins traded away big-name assets in order to accrue draft capital for said rebuild. Pieces included second-year safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, reliable receiver Kenny Stills and most notably, fourth-year offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil. These trades netted the Dolphins three first-round picks total for both the 2020 NFL Draft and 2021 NFL Draft in addition to other picks and players.

Part of the Tunsil-Stills trade included developmental offensive tackle Julien Davenport, who despite playing decently at times, was not part of the Texan’s future. For the Dolphins, Davenport has been inconsistent in addition to struggling with injuries. Miami’s patchwork offensive line has not played up to par as a whole, as the unit is ranked last in the league according to Pro Football Focus (these o-line rankings were made before the Tunsil trade).

With glaring holes all along the offensive line, it is imperative that the Dolphins address the offensive line within the first two rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft. While it is unclear who will be under center for Miami next season, what is clear that the Dolphins need to protect whomever that may end up being.

Similarly to the Jets, drafting Jones with the last first-round pick or one of their many Day 2 picks is a great way to start. Furthermore, Miami could potentially be another team that doubles up on the tackle position in the 2020 NFL Draft, which would be a move I would applaud. Jones would be a nice piece for Miami, as his ability to mirror would he counter would come in handy when trying to stave off players such as Chase Winowich and Jerry Hughes.
