Carolina Panthers 7-round 2020 NFL mock draft: A new franchise QB
At 5-foot-9, 185 pounds, Myles Bryant certainly does not have ideal for an NFL cornerback. That being said, he is a dynamic man-to-man defender who has fantastic upside as an NFL nickelback.
Bryant is extremely quick and explosive, showing the ability to handle the short-area quickness of slot receivers on the inside. He changes directions well and breaks on the ball with tremendous explosiveness.
While Bryant does not have ideal size, he is an extremely tough defender who is not afraid to come up and make plays against the run. Bryant tackles well in space and does a great job of jamming opposing receivers at the line of scrimmage. His combination of quickness, toughness and explosive athleticism makes Bryant an intriguing slot cornerback at the next level who could come in and provide immediate value for the Carolina Panthers.
Offensive tackle could quickly become a major position of need for the Carolina Panthers. Darryl Williams will enter free agency this offseason and Taylor Moton will hit the open market after the 2020 NFL season. Simply put, the Panthers must find some legitimate depth at the position.
Cole Van Lanen is a power-based offensive tackle who is strong at the point of attack. He is a good run blocker who opens up lanes well and does a great job of moving defenders off of their spot. While his game is based on power, Van Lanen does show solid movement skills. He has quick feet and mirrors opposing edge rushers extremely well.
If the Panthers take Van Lanen, they bring in a rock-solid right tackle prospect who could provide quality depth at the position. He may not be able to come in and start right away, but Van Lanen is a talented offensive lineman who would fit well with this team.
