2020 NFL Draft: Jerry Jeudy slides in this three-round NFL mock draft
No surprises here as the New York Giants take Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young with the second pick of this 2020 NFL draft scenario. Young has been arguably the best overall player in college football this season and is an obvious fit for the Giants here.
Based on pure talent, Young is the best player in the 2020 NFL draft class. The only reason he is not a sure-fire first-overall pick is that there is a great quarterback prospect in the draft class. If Young does not go number one, he is an easy choice at number two, no matter who is making the selection.
The Giants have struggled to rush the passer in recent years. Guys like Markus Golden and Lorenzo Carter simply are not going to get the job done if the Giants expect to compete going forward. They simply need to find guys who can get after the quarterback and Young undoubtedly fits the bill.
Young is an absolute freak on the edge, showing an incredible combination of size, athleticism and power. He is quick off of the ball and consistently gets fantastic upfield burst. Young is a tremendous natural pass rusher who can win with speed or power and once he has a path to the quarterback, he always closes quickly. He is also a strong run defender who can create penetration in the backfield and set the edge extremely well.
Simply put, Young can do it all on the edge. He is a rare player who has a high floor and a high ceiling at the next level. The Giants make the easy choice here and select Young to lead their defense.
