Dallas Cowboys seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft
The secondary has been an issue for the Dallas Cowboys this season and it’s unlikely to get any better as both Byron Jones and Anthony Brown are set to hit the open market this offseason. With limited cap space, the Cowboys are going to have to use the 2020 NFL Draft to improve their defensive backfield.
In the first round of this mock draft, the Cowboys take a cornerback who fits their defense to a tee. They want as much size and length at boundary cornerback as possible and Trevon Diggs fits the bill perfectly.
Diggs has great size and length at the cornerback position and he knows how to use it. He is extremely tough and physical at the line of scrimmage, showing a fantastic natural skill-set in press coverage. Diggs does a great job of making life difficult on receivers at the line of scrimmage, consistently using his long arms and power to his advantage.
Diggs is also a good athlete who has particularly impressive deep speed. Most big corners simply cannot run like this guy. His short-area quickness is relatively limited, but Diggs is not going to get beat deep often.
Cornerback is an obvious position of need for the Dallas Cowboys and Diggs is a seemingly perfect fit for their defense. This first-round pairing feels like a home run.
