Miami Dolphins 7-round 2020 NFL Mock Draft: Tua still an option?
Round 5, 149th Overall: Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville
After taking Dobbins early in the third round, the Dolphins do not go back on the clock until late in the fifth round of this mock draft. Despite the lengthy wait, the Dolphins still find an interesting offensive lineman with this fifth-round selection.
Mekhi Becton is a massive man who dominates at the point of attack. Quickness has typically been an issue for him, but he has been lighter on his feet this season than ever before. If Becton can keep his weight down and continue to improve his athleticism, the sky is the limit for him at the next level.

Round 6, 162nd Overall: Shyheim Carter, S, Alabama
At this point in the draft, it’s all about finding the best player available. As an athletic and physical defender who can make plays all over the field, Shyheim Carter certainly fits the bill.
Carter has played all over the field at Alabama, shining at safety, linebacker and even slot corner. He has some nice man-to-man coverage skills and can certainly take care of short zone coverage. Carter is also an extremely physical player who is not afraid to lay the wood. Simply put, he is a rock-solid football player who could quickly become a valuable defensive weapon for Miami.
Round 6, 180th Overall: Michael Onwenu, IOL, Michigan
The offensive line is a major issue for the Miami Dolphins. They attack this need by taking Michael Onwenu with this pick. Onwenu is a big and powerful interior offensive lineman who moves extremely well for a big man. He is a good football player who could potentially come in and compete for a starting spot right away.
Round 6, 190th Overall: Lavert Hill, CB, Michigan
Lavert Hill is a bit on the small side for an NFL cornerback, but what he lacks in size, he makes up for in physicality at the line of scrimmage. Hill is not afraid to come up and fight and he shows good quickness and solid man-to-man coverage skills. Nice value selection for the Dolphins here late.
Round 7, 214th Overall: Jeff Thomas, WR, Miami
With their 11th (!!!) and final pick of this mock draft, the Miami Dolphins find some offensive upside in a local prospect. University of Miami wide receiver Jeff Thomas has never been a consistent performer in college, but his impressive combination of speed and quickness gives him major upside at the next level.
Thomas is a quick and precise route runner who shows the ability to naturally create space against man coverage. He is extremely quick in and out of his cuts and has great elusiveness in the open field. Thomas also has the raw speed to be a legitimate deep threat and can catch a short pass and take it to the house from anywhere on the field. Thomas is far from a guaranteed NFL contributor, but he is a talented guy who could be a major late-round steal.
