Pick Analysis. 58. Scouting Report. OT. Georgia. Andrew Thomas. 3. player

This is a tough call for the Washington Redskins here with the third overall pick. In a perfect world, quarterbacks go one and two and Washington has Chase Young fall into their lap. However, in this 2020 NFL draft scenario, Young is off of the board and the Redskins have to go in another direction.

Trent Williams may be on his way back to Washington, but the Redskins still seem to want to trade their franchise left tackle. It feels much more likely than not that Williams will be gone by the 2020 NFL Draft, leaving a massive hole for the Redskins at offensive tackle.

If Washington expects quarterback Dwayne Haskins to progress properly and become a true franchise signal-caller, they simply must be able to protect him. Bringing in Georgia offensive tackle Andrew Thomas makes the most sense here.

Thomas is a big and powerful offensive lineman who is dominant at the point of attack. He is a fierce run blocker who gets off of the ball and to his spots quickly and controls defenders with ease once engaged.

Thomas also moves well in pass protection and consistently uses his long arms to his advantage. Simply put, Thomas is a dominant run blocker and strong pass protector who has obvious upside at the next level. He undoubtedly has the talent to become the next Trent Williams for Washington and would be a great fit for the team in the 2020 NFL Draft.
