New England Patriots

The Patriots have done a little more than just window shopping at the wide receiver position in the past few months.

They signed (then traded) another former Broncos receiver in Demaryius Thomas this offseason.

They signed Antonio Brown (and then cut him) after his offseason fiasco with the Oakland Raiders.

They used their first-round pick on Arizona State’s N’Keal Harry, the first wide receiver Bill Belichick has ever drafted in round one. He was placed on IR and is just now returning to practice.

The Patriots are never shy about making moves for veteran guys on the bargain heap, and with three — three — projected third-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, what do they have to lose here? If no other teams are offering the Broncos a third-rounder for Sanders, does it not make sense for them to throw one out there?

What difference is a compensatory third-round pick going to make for the Patriots?

Sanders would thrive in New England’s quick-strike offense, and could also provide them with another weapon in the vertical passing game.
